INTRODUCTION:
LYS School is committed to training the student instructor for the field Natural hair care and braiding teaching profession through practical, theoretical, and psychological application of applied basic knowledge and skills. As defined by IDFPR Act of 1985 section 1.4, "Licensed hair braiding teacher" means an individual licensed by the Department to practice hair braiding and to provide instruction in the theory and practice of hair braiding to students in an approved hair braiding school.
LYS School prepares each student instructor to pass the state board examination. The student will achieve this in two steps: Observership of consultant stylists’ techniques and Supervised teaching of students in the basic hair braider program. After completion of the required examination and graduation, the qualified students will be offered positions as assistant teacher consultant for 1 to 2 years at the LYS School and an opportunity to partner with the school.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary/high school education, or the recognized equivalent of that certificate (GED).
CURRICULUM & DURATION:
600-hours training = 30 weeks course (7months)
5weeks signed internship.

Teaching Methods – 5weeks
Application of Teaching Methods – 5weeks
Business Methods – 5weeks
Student Teaching - 5weeks
500-hours training = 25 weeks course (6months). This training needs approval with necessary documentation
2 weeks signed internship.

SESSIONS:
We have open enrollment and scheduled sessions. There are 4 session start dates in the year.
Open Enrollment: Students can start at any time, and work at your pace. (following the basic students’ schedule)
Spring session start: April 4th, 2024
Summer session start: July 8th, 2024
Fall session start: October 7th, 2024
Winter session start: January 8th, 2024
HOURS/ SCHEDULE: Always follow the hours of basic students enrolled during the period. Classes are usually all day.
COSTS
Application/Registration fee: $300
Program tuition: $3500
Mannequin & Tools: $50 - $200 (MUST BE REQUESTED)
Deposit = $500 (required at registration)
Full/ complete payment due on first day of class
